
Socialization of the WCU–EQUITY Program: Advancing Universitas Sriwijaya toward a World-Class University
Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI) held the Socialization of the World Class University (WCU) – Enhancing Quality Education for International University Impacts and Recognition (EQUITY) UNSRI 2025–2026 Program today as a strategic initiative to enhance the university’s global presence and competitiveness. This activity reflects UNSRI’s strong commitment to advancing academic excellence, research innovation, and institutional quality as part of its vision to become a world-class university that upholds the principles of equity, inclusivity, and sustainability.
The event was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Sriwijaya, Prof. Dr. Taufiq Marwa, S.E., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy among all members of the academic community to support the implementation of the WCU–EQUITY program. He highlighted that the journey toward becoming a World Class University should not be measured solely by international rankings, but also by meaningful contributions in strengthening national and international partnerships in education, research, and community engagement.
“Universitas Sriwijaya must continue to expand its collaborative network with partners both domestically and internationally, so that innovations and research outcomes can generate global impact while addressing local needs,” said Prof. Taufiq Marwa in his opening remarks.

The event featured three keynote speakers. Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Rujito Agus Suwignyo, M.Agr., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Quality Assurance, presented the strategic direction of the WCU–EQUITY UNSRI Program. Prof. Ir. Subriyer Nasir, M.S., Ph.D., Chair of the EQUITY Program, elaborated on the implementation strategies and key performance indicators of the program. In the final presentation, Prof. Ir. Siti Nurmaini, M.T., Ph.D., Secretary of the EQUITY Program, outlined the overall activities under the EQUITY UNSRI initiative, including proposal submission mechanisms, target achievements, and implementation timelines.

Through the EQUITY program, UNSRI aims to establish a robust system that promotes continuous improvement in academic quality, research productivity, and international reputation. The program is expected to strengthen UNSRI’s position within the global higher education ecosystem while ensuring equal opportunities and academic fairness across all faculties and organizational units.
With the successful implementation of this event, UNSRI reaffirms its commitment to advancing as an excellent, inclusive, and globally competitive WCU through collaboration, innovation, and the dedication of its entire academic community.
